Job Posting Rules
A complete guide to writing compliant, effective job listings on AYIO Jobs
Every listing on AYIO Jobs must meet our posting standards. These rules protect job seekers, maintain trust in the platform, and help you attract the right candidates. Listings that violate these rules will be rejected or removed.
What's NOT Allowed
The following are strictly prohibited in all job listings. Violations may result in listing removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
No Guaranteed Work or Income Promises
Transport work depends on market conditions, freight volumes, seasonal demand, and many other factors outside anyone's control. You cannot promise guaranteed income or guaranteed work availability.
- "Guaranteed runs from day one"
- "Guaranteed income of $3,000 per week"
- "Guaranteed work 52 weeks a year"
- "We guarantee you'll never be without a load"
- "Consistent work available" or "Regular runs available"
- "Drivers currently averaging $X per week"
- "Strong freight volumes in this corridor"
No Sham Contracting
You cannot advertise an employee role as a "contractor" or "owner driver" position if the worker will be controlled like an employee. This includes setting fixed hours, dictating specific routes, requiring exclusive service to one client, or providing all equipment. This is a breach of the Fair Work Act s.357 and carries significant penalties.
- Fixed start/finish times with no flexibility
- Cannot sub-contract or delegate work
- Must work exclusively for one company
- Company provides all tools, vehicles and equipment
- Described as "contractor" but paid hourly with no ABN required
No Discriminatory Language
Job listings must not specify or imply preferences based on age, gender, race, religion, disability, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, or any other protected attribute under Australian anti-discrimination law.
- "Young, energetic driver wanted"
- "Male preferred" or "Looking for a strong bloke"
- "No kids" or "Must not be pregnant"
- "Christian values company" (as a hiring requirement)
- "Must be Australian born"
- "Energetic and motivated driver wanted"
- "Must be able to lift 25kg unassisted" (genuine requirement)
- "Must have Australian work rights"
No Misleading Salary or Earnings Claims
You cannot advertise gross revenue as "earnings" for owner drivers. Earnings figures must be realistic and clearly labelled. Job seekers deserve honest information to make informed decisions.
- "Earn $5,000/week" (without specifying gross or net)
- "$200,000+ per year" (quoting gross revenue for owner drivers)
- "OTE $150,000" without explaining assumptions
- "Gross revenue approx. $5,000/week (owner driver costs apply)"
- "Net take-home estimated at $1,800-$2,200/week after fuel, rego, insurance"
- "$32-$38/hour + super (employee role)"
- "Salary negotiable based on experience"
No Vehicle Sale/Lease Bundled with Employment
You cannot tie a vehicle purchase or lease arrangement to a job offer. Vehicle sales and employment must be completely separate transactions. If you have a vehicle for sale, use AYIO Marketplace instead.
- "Buy this truck and the work comes with it"
- "Lease-to-own with guaranteed contract"
- "Finance available for the right driver - truck + work package"
No Unlicensed Financial Product Referrals
Job listings must not embed finance offers, broker referrals, insurance product promotions, or any other financial product or service. These require appropriate Australian Financial Services Licences (AFSL) and have no place in a job advertisement.
No Fake or Expired Listings
All listings must represent genuine, currently available job opportunities. You cannot post speculative listings to build a resume pool, re-post expired roles without updating them, or post roles that have already been filled.
- Posting a role that doesn't exist to collect resumes
- Keeping a filled position listed to "see who's out there"
- "We're always looking for drivers" with no specific vacancy
No Competitor Poaching Ads
You cannot name competitor companies or specifically target their employees in your job listing. Recruit on the merits of your own opportunity.
- "Tired of working at [Competitor Name]? Come join us"
- "All [Company X] drivers welcome to apply"
- "Better conditions than [Competitor]"
No Personal Information Requests in the Listing
Job ads must not ask candidates to provide sensitive personal information upfront. This information should only be collected during the formal hiring process, not in the public listing itself.
- Tax File Number (TFN)
- Bank account details
- Copies of ID (licence, passport)
- Medicare or health information
- Superannuation details
No Misleading Job Titles
The job title must accurately reflect the actual role being offered. Keyword stuffing, ALL CAPS titles, and exaggerated titles designed to game search results are not permitted.
- "DRIVER DRIVER DRIVER URGENT URGENT!!!"
- "MC HC HR Driver Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Perth" (keyword stuffing)
- "CEO of Deliveries" for a standard courier role
- "MC Linehaul Driver - Melbourne to Sydney"
- "HC Local Driver - Western Sydney"
- "Warehouse Forklift Operator - Derrimut"
No Multi-Level Marketing or Commission-Only Roles
All roles must comply with Fair Work minimum wage requirements unless the position is a genuinely independent contractor arrangement. Multi-level marketing (MLM), pyramid-style commission structures, and "pay for your own leads" schemes are not permitted.
No Third-Party Recruitment Without Disclosure
If you are posting a job on behalf of a client company, you must clearly disclose that you are a recruitment agency and identify your agency name. The listing must make it obvious that applicants are dealing with a recruiter, not the end employer directly.
- List your agency name as the posting company
- Include "Posted by [Agency Name] on behalf of our client" in the description
- Do not impersonate the end employer
What's Required
Every job listing on AYIO Jobs must include the following information. Incomplete listings will not be approved.
Accurate Job Title
The job title must match the actual role being offered. Use standard industry titles such as "MC Linehaul Driver", "HC Rigid Driver", "Forklift Operator", or "Transport Coordinator".
Genuine Employment Type
Clearly state whether the role is full-time, part-time, casual, or contract. If it's a contractor/owner driver position, this must be accurately represented and not disguised employment.
Realistic Salary or Rate
Provide a salary range, hourly rate, or per-kilometre rate. If the rate is negotiable, say so and provide context (e.g. "Negotiable based on experience, industry range $28-$35/hr"). For owner drivers, clearly distinguish between gross revenue and estimated net income.
Licence & Ticket Requirements
Specify exactly which licence class is required (MC, HC, HR, MR, LR) and any additional endorsements, tickets or certifications (e.g. Dangerous Goods, forklift licence, fatigue management, white card).
Genuine Location
Provide a specific location at minimum suburb and state level. "Australia-wide" or "Various locations" is not acceptable unless the role genuinely operates nationally with a clearly described home base.
Company Name or Agency Disclosure
List the real company name offering the role, or clearly identify yourself as a recruitment agency posting on behalf of a client. Anonymous listings are not permitted.
Contractor Acknowledgment (where applicable)
For owner driver or independent contractor roles, the poster must confirm via the contractor acknowledgment checkbox that the arrangement represents a genuine independent contractor relationship, not disguised employment.
Best Practices
Follow these tips to write listings that attract more qualified candidates and stand out on the platform.
Write a Clear, Specific Title
Include the licence class, run type and location. "MC Linehaul Driver - Melbourne to Adelaide" will get far more relevant applications than "Truck Driver Needed".
Describe the Actual Work
Candidates want to know what a typical day or week looks like. Describe the routes, average kilometres, loading/unloading expectations, and roster pattern. The more specific you are, the better the match.
Be Upfront About Pay
Listings that show a clear pay range get significantly more applications. If you're offering above-award rates, say so. If the pay is negotiable, give a ballpark so candidates can self-select.
Highlight What Makes You Different
Good equipment, well-maintained fleet, consistent home time, supportive management, modern trucks - these details matter to drivers. Tell candidates why they should choose you over the next listing.
Keep It Professional
Avoid ALL CAPS, excessive exclamation marks, or overly casual language. A professional listing reflects a professional workplace. Proofread before publishing.
Respond Promptly to Applications
Good candidates get snapped up fast. Aim to respond to applications within 24-48 hours. Use AYIO Jobs's built-in messaging to keep the conversation moving.
Update or Close Filled Positions
Once a role is filled, mark it as closed promptly. This keeps the platform trustworthy for job seekers and prevents you from being inundated with applications for a role that no longer exists.
Use the Full Description Field
Don't just write two sentences. Include details about the company, the fleet, the run, the team, growth opportunities, and any benefits. Detailed listings consistently outperform vague ones.
